Paul Inglis Photography :: Biography
Isle of Man
It is hardly surprising to find that Natural History and Landscape Photographer Paul Inglis resides in what he describes as “One Great Nature Reserve”, the Isle of Man. It lies in the Irish Sea, between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, less than 60 miles west of the Lancashire coastline. Covering an area of 227 square miles the Island is 33 miles long, 13 miles wide. More than 40% of the Island is uninhabited providing a wide diversity in habitat and wildlife.
Out of his back door Paul has a vast diversity of habitats to choose from such as; wetlands, heathlands, hill-lands, mountains (the highest standing just over 2,036 feet), many glens, waterfalls, rivers and streams, woodlands along with a spectacular coastline. These habitats each provide it’s own unique and rich veritable feast of Birds, Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians, Bugs, Fish, Insects, Butterflies, Moths, Spiders, Molluscs, Crustaceans, Invertebrates, Fauna, Flora, Plants and Pond Life. The Manx marine life is equally spectacular.
It is hardly surprising that Paul has come to considering the Island as one grand nature reserve with most of his images being shot here, because along every road, through every village and town, around every bend you turn; it's there, staring you in the face. This enables Paul to shoot a diverse range of images covering most genres from the smallest fly through to mountains and everything else in between.

Living in this rich natural world has further impelled his love affair with nature and also sparked his deepest desire to help others see the importance of protecting our delicate environment. Rather than just making an image Paul tries to communicate the unique qualities of the place, in the way it looks and feels, not just the sense, but about it too. Paul constantly strives to make images that not only venerate the glorious and astonishing geographical diversity of our planet, but showing its serene beauty, its majesty, even in its starkest severity. Every Forest, Glen, Valley or Marsh has a character that sets it apart from all others.
He truly loves what his does and hopes that you enjoy every photograph as much as he enjoyed taking them. Paul would also like to remind you to pay attention to the small, ordinary pieces of your everyday life and to not let these simple beauties go on unnoticed or unappreciated. Although he greatly enjoys and appreciates the beauty that is found elsewhere, his deepest passion is still for his home territory in Mann.

This gallery presents him the opportunity to share not only his true passion for photography but also the evocative beauty of the Isle of Man with each of you.
